Missing Flash on iPad

I don't think there's a much space between MacBook and iPhone which allows iPad to exist long, however, if there was, Apple is seemed to have made a great mistake in its implementation.

Does iPad deliver an excellent experience in browsing web pages without Flash?

It didn't matter, indeed, because people doesn't want to see Flash images on web pages  inside of the iPhone's small frame.  But iPad has the full-size screen to deliver the similar experience to that of PC.   People may be disappointed to see many broken pages based on Flash technology.

I agree that HTML5 is the way to go.  But it takes another couple of years to replace Flash by finishing up the specification of the protocol.   Missing Flash is making iPad's shape  blur in the market.

iPhoneとMacBookの間にニッチはあるのか？

確かにあるんだろう。Webを見たり本を読むのにiPhoneでは小さすぎてMacBookでは使い勝手が悪い。しかし、そのニッチは市場セグメントして拡大するのだろうか。

「中間」は基本的に駄目だ。大型コンピューターとパソコンの間にあったミニコン、ワークステーションの市場は、いつの間にやらパソコンに食い尽くされてしまった。長らくDECやSUNが栄えたのは、ニッチが埋まるまでにだいぶ時間がかかっただけの話だ。大型コンピューターとパソコンとでは、性能差もさることながら、金額にして数百倍もの差があったのだから。

では、iPhoneとMacBookにどれほどの差があるのか？　金額的には数倍程度だ。クリエイティブなパワーが欲しい人はMacBookを買い、携帯性のあるブラウズ端末の欲しい人はiPhoneを買う。パワーも携帯性も欲しい人は両方を買うが、中間の製品は邪魔なだけだ。魅力的でも使うシチュエーションがなければ買わない。Mac G4 Cubeを買わなかったように。
